Antelope Valley, California - Choices In Learning National Foundation is honored to announce Athletes Committed To Excellence (ACE ) Leadership Summit pilot program. The ACE Leadership Summit will launch January 24, 2017 in Lancaster California. ACE will provide high school students in-depth character building, leadership and mentorship training along with additional lifelong character development techniques, essential in future leadership development.
The summit includes a four-part speaker series featuring renowned, inspirational leaders from the sports, business and entertainment industries. ACE will utilize the Beating the Odds Foundation’s “DO, USE, TEACH & MENTOR” model and “Quarterbacks of Life” (QBoL), a 26 year old curriculum that’s been used by NASA and the U.S. Army JROTC. The no-cost program is open to all 9th through 12th grade students. Participates who complete the program will also be eligible for a $1000.00 scholarship.
Choices In Learning National Foundation Chief Administrator, Jeri Vincent stated “We are thrilled to be partnering with Quarterbacks of Life, Beating The Odds Foundation, and the AV Community at large, to bring this caliber of leadership training, exposure and opportunity to our local high school students. ACE Leadership Summit is free to students, and is designed to teach student-athletes the importance of leadership and teamwork, while identifying lifelong resources that will help them achieve success both on and off the field.”
The first ACE session will feature keynote speaker Bob Wieland - a Vietnam war veteran who lost his legs to a mortar mine in 1969. Mr. Wieland is the only double amputee to finish the difficult Kona, Hawaii Ironman race without a wheelchair. He "ran" across America on his hands, taking three years, eight months, and six days to travel from coast to coast.
The ACE Leadership Summit's will also include student engagement breakout sessions, panel discussions with college and professional coaches, as well as business leaders from the Antelope Valley communities. Online registration is open, but limited to 125 students. For more information on the ACE Leadership Summit, including registration, student scholarships and more visit acestrong.com
